Meeting held at the Fremont Round Table, 37480 Fremont Blvd.
 
Minutes of the Meeting
6:00pm - 7:30pm Passed fish around, talked fish, shared information and annodotes. The new members eagerly gathered new breeding stock and tips on breeding. Found out that every breeder has different methods for keeping the fish (for example: Lee&Walt, males in jars, heated room; Wendy, males in jars, semi-heated room; Larissa, males in community tanks or segregated tanks, non-heated room; etc.) Ate waaay too much pizza.
   
7:30pm - 8:30pm Meeting Called to order for Business
 
  • Presentation of current problems (meeting location and organizational structure) and discussion. 
 
  • Upon a suggestion from Mary, members went around the table and told what they liked about the Betta club. Results fell into four main categories: 
 
  1. Talk to other betta people (people who don't give you the 'what the heck' look when you talk fish).
  2. Gain information about keeping and raising bettas from other betta people. (Education, Information, Problem Solving Assistance.)
  3. Share information about bettas with other people. (Teaching others, especially new members. Attracting new people into the hobby. Helping the club flourish.) 
  4. Gain new fish and higher quality fish

  • Discussed location a bit more, tossed around ideas such as having a rotating meeting location in different areas. Subject finally tabled for more research by all members, ideas and potential locations to be presented at next meeting for review.

8:30pm Meeting adjourned. Much milling about afterwards with more talking and fish exchanging. All donated fish found happy homes.
   
Next meeting location to be determined and announced via email and website no later than January 30. Business topics will be future meeting locations and committees. Fish topic to be announced. Fish will be present, donators to be announced (volunteers welcomed).
